JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SUV

Chrysler introduced today the new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee that represents the company’s first application of the new 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine with Variable-Valve Timing (VVT). Powered by this engine, the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee outputs 280 hp (209 kW) and 260 lb.-ft. of torque (353 Nm) at 4,800 rpm. This unit offers 11 percent better fuel economy with 33 percent more hp and 11 percent more torque.
The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee comes with New Quadra Lift air suspension that lifts the car up to 4.5″ from park mode to a maximum ride height of 11.1″. The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee also comes with the Selec-Terrain system that offers a five-way setup: Auto, Sand/Mud, Sport, Snow and Rock.
All 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokees equipped with either the off-road or the Quadra-Lift group are Trail Rated®. The Jeep Trail Rated badge on the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee indicates that the vehicle has been designed to perform in a variety of challenging off-road conditions identified by five key consumer-oriented performance categories: traction, ground clearance, maneuverability, articulation and water fording.
The all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee delivers premium on-road performance while maintaining the Jeep brand’s legendary four-wheel-drive, torque-on-demand two-speed transfer case and unsurpassed towing capability. It also offers improved fuel economy (up to 11 percent) and a world-class interior cabin.
The exterior is very nice, the sculpting is dramatic yet smooth. Ralph Gilles told me they are almost at the “tear point of the metal and the sculpting could not be made deeper without other design compromises. The power liftgate is a new design, seemingly hidden within the rod covering.
The interior is very comfortable with just about all surfaces “soft touch” and good faux wood trim abounds. The control stack aluminum-look plastic is the only part that doesn’t seem top notch, but it is still good quality. Interior panel gaps are tight and controls felt good. The air lift suspension was nice and the sunroof is huge. The dash and seats and instruments are well laid out and ergonomic. The two tone interior on display (Brown/Charcoal) has a nice contrast and color and the leather is very soft. Some of the dash seems to be leather and has stitching similar to the Ram. Back seat room is better than current Grand Cherokee and far better than the Commander.
The optional Hemi V8 engine now delivers 360 horsepower (268 kW) and 390 lb.-ft. of torque (520 N•m) @ 4,250 rpm; it uses cylinder deactivation and variable valve timing to increase mileage. The Hemi is coupled to the reliable, smooth Chrysler-designed 545RFE five-speed automatic transmission, which has a sixth forward speed for highway kickdown. The premium Overland 4×4 weighs around 5,210 lb, an increase of 320 lb over the 2008 Overland. 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee’s trailer towing capability is up to 7,400 pounds on rear wheel drive models equipped with the HEMI V-8 engine. As in the past, the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee will be available in left- and right-hand drive with either diesel or petrol powertrains for international sale.
In addition to the Quadra-Lift air suspension, the all-new Selec-Terrain™ traction control system lets customers choose the off-road setting for the optimum experience on all terrains. This feature electronically coordinates up to 12 different powertrain, braking and suspension systems, including throttle control, transmission shift, transfer case, Traction Control and Electronic Stability Control (ESC).

The 2010 Jeep Wrangler adds even more refinement with a new and improved Sunrider® soft-top system, making it even easier to remove the top for that open-air experience on- or off-road.
The Sunrider soft top is redesigned with a new cable-top system that allows customers to easily open and close the top within minutes. The improved soft top features a simplified removal system, eliminating the need to un-tuck and tuck the side rails when opening and closing the top.
The 2010 Jeep Wrangler models include a fuel-saver indicator. The fuel-saver indicator provides drivers with continuous feedback on fuel consumption. The fuel-saver indicator will display when driving in a fuel-efficient manner.
Other standard features include compass and outside temperature display, fog lamps, tow hooks and larger sliding sun visors with mirrors.
Jeep Sahara and Rubicon models now feature new optional two-tone leather seating. And the Wrangler Sport model now features a new full-length floor console. In addition, cloth seats replace standard vinyl seats.
The 2010 Jeep Wrangler models feature a 3.8-liter V-6 engine, which generates 202 horsepower (151 kW) and 237 lb.-ft. (321 N•m) of torque, backed by a standard six-speed manual gearbox or an available four-speed automatic transmission.
The 2010 Jeep Wrangler Sport and Sahara models are equipped with the Command-Trac® NV241 part-time, two-speed transfer case with a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio. An available Trac-Lok® limited-slip rear differential provides extra torque and grip during slippery, low-traction situations, such as driving over sand, gravel, snow or ice.
The 2010 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon model is equipped with an Off-Road Rock-Trac® NV241 two-speed transfer case with a 4.0:1 low-range gear ratio, as well as electric front- and rear-axle lockers, an electronic sway-bar disconnect and 32-inch off-road tires.

The Mopar team started with a Sunburst Orange Jeep Patriot model equipped with the Trail-Rated off-road package and added a 2-inch Rocky Road Outfitters suspension lift, TJ ‘Moab’ 16-inch wheels, and BF Goodrich KM2 tires. Additional protection is added to the front and rear fascias with custom rock rails. Mopar added heavy-duty slush mats, Kicker audio and a roof-mounted snowboard carrier.

The Jeep Wrangler Mountain edition is based on the Wrangler Sport S package, and is available on Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited 4×4 models.
