nissan

With a maximum speed in excess of 200mph (320 km/h) and a 6.0 litre V12 engine developing 520 horsepower, the Vanquish S has been designed to deliver even greater performance, complemented by subtle suspension and steering changes and a number of interior and external style revisions.

“The Vanquish is our flagship model and the standard 460bhp will continue to be built,” said Aston Martin | super speed cas CEO, Dr Ulrich Bez. “However, this derivative makes the car even more exceptional. The latest Vanquish S is not only the fastest Aston Martin ever, but it is the best handling too. It is the ultimate high-performance Aston Martin.

The Vanquish S has received subtle but effective changes to complement its elegant muscular body. The famous Aston Martin grille has a new rounded and more open appearance for better cooling, and an aerodynamic splitter improves high-speed stability.

At the rear, a redesigned boot lid featuring a new high mounted stop lamp reduces lift and improves balance and stability, helping to achieve an impressive Cd figure of 0.32.

These differences on the Vanquish S not only improve the appearance but also enhance performance. All the exterior body panels are constructed from aluminium with each individual panel hand tailored to the central structure to ensure a perfect panel fit. Every carefully detailed feature provides graphic evidence of the painstaking craftsmanship and quality, which is invested in its construction at Aston Martin’s Newport Pagnell site in Buckinghamshire.
Revised steering geometry provides a 20% quicker response, allowing the driver to apply a reduced input for required steering response. This enables the driver to be more precise with inputs – especially on winding roads – and more accurate feedback from the chassis.
The Sports Dynamics suspension, steering and braking package is now standard on the Vanquish S. This includes stiffer springs and dampers and shorter steering arms.
The brakes have been upgraded to incorporate larger six piston calipers and larger grooved and ventilated front discs. The rear discs are 2mm wider for improved heat dissipation. The use of floating discs ensures the driver has consistent pedal feel under heavy braking whilst a new brake pedal assembly reduces travel and enhances pedal feel.

Further development of Aston Martin’s low emissions, all alloy, quad-overhead camshaft, 48 valve, 6.0-litre V12 engine has generated an increase in power from 460 bhp to 520 bhp and torque is boosted to 425 lb ft (577 Nm).

Engine enhancements include new cylinder heads with fully machined inlet ports and combustion chambers to improve airflow, revised engine mapping and new fuel injectors.

The overall interior design is a subtle blend of traditional, classic and modern materials with Bridge of Weir leather upholstery matched to contemporary metal interior fittings and finishes. A number of detailed improvements have been made to the interior of the Vanquish S to enhance the overall appeal.

The luxurious but purposeful two seat or optional 2+2 cabin now features supportive all leather trimmed sports seats with many additional and exquisite detail touches which amply demonstrate the truly special nature of this unique hand crafted sports car.

“The Vanquish S V12 is a combination of state-of-the-art aerospace technology and hand craftsmanship,” said Dr Bez. “It is the flagship model of a confident and growing company that is proud to display its heritage but is also determined to make the most technologically modern and inspirational sports cars in the world.”

Illustrating Aston Martin’s continuing commitment to customer care Vanquish S customers will be eligible for a complimentary Performance Driving Course. This comprehensive one-to-one driving experience can be taken at one of three proving grounds – Millbrook in the UK, Lommel in Belgium, or Romeo, Michigan, in North America.

With the capacity to continue to turn heads, the design of the Vanquish is already established as a modern classic. Since its launch in 2001, the Vanquish has proved to be a huge success for Aston Martin with over 1500 cars built

The latest revisions to GT-R include a new HDD-based CARWINGS navigation system with enhanced entertainment functions. A USB port with iPod®*1 connectivity allows the driver and passengers to enjoy their favorite music in the car, creating an even more pleasant interior environment. *2

In addition, the GT-R’s suspension has been retuned to offer enhanced, premium quality ride comfort, while still providing the driver with a feeling of direct contact with the road surface. The accuracy of the front shock absorbers and springs has been increased and the stiffness of rear suspension radius rod bushings has been strengthened. Rear diffusers with cooling ducts, previously available only on the GT-R SpecV, have been expanded to non-SpecV models, improving cooling performance around the rear floor area.
The exclusive Nissan GT-R SpecV models receive revised rear shock absorber settings, enhancing the characteristic combination of supple ride comfort and flat, predictable handling. In conjunction with this change, SpecV now comes standard with Dunlop tires. The previously standard Bridgestone tires are available as a factory-installed option.
Finally, both the Nissan GT-R and GT-R SpecV achieve improved low- and mid-range engine response, thanks to newly adopted hexagonal meshed catalyst cells that reduce ventilation/airflow resistance.

Nissan 370Z Black

370Z: BACK TO BLACK
Just over 40 years ago a motoring icon was born. As the sixties moved into the 1970s, the Datsun 240Z was launched on the US market. American drivers instantly fell in love with the car and sales in that one market alone regularly topped 50,000 units annually. The Z legend had begun.
Now four decades, six generations and well over a million cars later, Nissan is introducing a special celebratory version of the newest two-seater to wear the famous Z badge – the 370Z.
The 370Z Black Edition marks the 40th anniversary in style. Available from April as a coupĂ© only, and in a limited edition run of just 370 units in Europe, it comes in two distinctive metallic shades: black and quartz. Both paints use Nissan’s pioneering Scratch Shield technology, ‘healing’ the finish in the case of stone chip damage.
Inside the 370Z Black edition there are:
• Unique red leather & suede appointed interior (seats & door trim) with embossed 40th Anniversary logo seats
• Smooth leather wrapped steering wheel with red stitching
• Red stitching on the centre cluster, centre console and knee pads
• Nissan’s Connect Premium state-of-the-art combined touch-screen satellite navigation and audio system with USB connectivity
The exterior of the 370Z Black can be identified thanks to:
• Dark grey 19′ aluminium forged RAYS wheels
• Eye-catching red brake callipers
• 40th Anniversary emblem on the back door
Standard specification means it already has a bespoke BOSE premium audio system, 19-inch forged alloy wheels, Stop/Start button with Nissan’s Intelligent Key and a sporting six speed manual transmission with unique Synchro Rev Control technology. The electronically controlled rev matching system ensures perfect ‘heel and toe’ gear changes every time. A seven-speed automatic version with column-mounted paddle shifts is available as an option.
The Black Edition comes as standard with Nissan’s next generation combined audio and navigation system, offering improved ease-of-operation, new and updated features.
At its heart is a high performance Hard Disk Drive (HDD) navigation system that offers customer audio storage capacity of 9.3GB.
Among the many benefits are vastly extended mapping which now includes Turkey, Eastern Europe and Russia, as well as a new easy to follow 3D navigation guidance with improved graphics and a more realistic depiction of the road and landmarks ahead for many of Europe’s principle cities. The resolution of the new 7 inch screen is up to four times better than the previous generation system.
Real time traffic information is supplied via RDS-TMC, but quicker operation allows the system to offer re-routing in a fraction of the time.
The new generation system uses a touch-screen interface, maximising both ease of use and safety not only for the navigation, but also for other functions such as Bluetooth phone connectivity and entertainment. It is also possible to operate the system using voice recognition.
On-screen instructions can be displayed in eight different languages including English, French, German, Spanish and Italian – while voice recognition is supported in seven – English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Dutch.
The new generation navigation system also allows USB connectivity for portable audio devices. Furthermore, DVDs can be played on the centrally mounted navigation screen (when the car is stationary), while external audio and video devices can be connected via the VTR connections that are found in the central storage box.
In terms of its mechanical specification, the Black Edition matches the standard 370Z. That means a 3.7-litre 24-valve twin cam V6 developing 328PS and a limited top speed of 155mph and a 0-62 mph time of 5.3 seconds (5.6 seconds for the automatic version). The 2010 model year update means the 370Z is now fully compliant with forthcoming Euro 5 emission legislation.
Exemplary levels of handling and grip are assured by the focused rear-wheel drive chassis which features fully independent suspension, powerful upgraded brakes and precise speed sensitive power steering.
Since its launch in June 2009, more than 1,050 examples of the 370Z have been sold across Europe, an exceptional achievement for a niche product in extremely challenging market conditions. The car’s largest market to date has been the UK, followed by France and Germany.
‘The ‘story of Z’ is full of positives, with success not just in the sales charts all over the world but on racetracks and at award ceremonies, too. The 370Z Black Edition is a fitting tribute to a great car,’ said Vincent Wijnen, Nissan’s European Vice President for Marketing.
Customers can order the 370Z Black Edition from all Nissan High Performance Centres and throughout the dealer network with deliveries starting in April.
Prices start from – £33,645 for the manual and £35,045 for the automatic transmission (prices include £750 showroom tax which comes into effect on 1 April 2010).

2010 Nissan GT-R news, pictures, and information
2010 Nissan GT-R Enters Second Year With Five Additional Horsepower, Revised Suspension, New Wheel Colors
The fifth-generation Nissan GT-R supercar, which made its North American debut in July 2008, returns less than a year later with an enhanced 2010 model featuring a number of small yet important updates – including five additional horsepower, a revised suspension, revised wheel finishes and standard front seat-mounted and roof-mounted curtain sideimpact supplemental air bags. The 2010 GT-R will be available through nearly 700 official ‘GT-R certified’ Nissan dealers across the United States beginning in March 2009.
‘After years of anticipation, the arrival of the famed Nissan GT-R in the United States couldn’t have been more exciting or rewarding,’ said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc. ‘Not only did GT-R virtually rewrite the sports car performance records, it showed that you don’t have to spend mega dollars for mega performance – or mega fun. The GT-R also won near universal acclaim in its rookie year, including being named Motor Trend ‘2009 Car of the Year,’ Automobile magazine’s 2009 ‘Automobile of the Year’ and winning Kelly Blue Book’s ‘2009 Best Resale Value Award.”
For 2010, the horsepower rating of the GT-R’s 3.8-liter twin turbo V6 engine has been increased to 485 hp (from 480 hp) and the car’s high-performance 6-speed dual-clutch transmission receives new Transmission Control Module (TCM) programming designed to optimize clutch engagement for improved drivability and improve vehicle acceleration with the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) on (activated).
In addition, the braking system has been updated with more rigid brake lines for improved durability and the brake calipers now carry both the Brembo and Nissan logos. The GT-R’s already advanced suspension has been retuned with redesigned Bilstein® shocks with a new valve body design, along with revised spring and damper rates.
The base GT-R model is now equipped with slightly darker high-luster smoke finish (versus the 2009 model) for the standard 20-inch RAYS forged aluminum-alloy wheels, while a new near-black metallic wheel finish is standard on the Premium model. For 2010, a new Pearl White color is offered and the Super Silver exterior color has been enhanced and now includes a polished front bumper.
Supercar Packaging and Driveline
The Nissan GT-R is a multi-dimensional performance machine that lives up to the concept of ‘the ultimate supercar that can be driven by anyone, anytime, anywhere.’ It is built on an exclusive Premium Midship platform created expressly for use with the GT-R. The Premium Midship platform enables the use of a world’s first independent rear transaxle ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive system, which optimizes weight distribution and handling capability. This layout places the transmission, transfer case and final drive at the rear of the vehicle, without the use of traditional torque tubes, allowing the suspension to operate independently and optimizing tire grip at each corner.
Under the hood, the Nissan GT-R features an advanced VR38DETT 3.8-liter twin turbo V6 producing 485 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 434 lb-ft of torque at 3,200, while meeting ultra-low emission vehicle (ULEV) standards. The engine features innovative plasmasprayed bores replacing cast iron liners for reduced friction, lighter weight, enhanced cooling, power output and fuel efficiency; a symmetrical independent intake and exhaust manifold system featuring twin high-performance IHI turbochargers; a secondary air management system for improved cold-start emissions performance; a thermostatically controlled oilcooling system; an oil scavenger pump to maintain oil flowing to the turbochargers; and a lateral wet and dry sump oiling system. All GT-R engines are hand-assembled in a clean room environment at the Nissan Yokohama engine plant.
The VR38DETT is backed by an advanced paddle-shifted sequential 6-speed dual clutch
transmission, which can be driver selected to shift at race car-like speeds. The sequentialshifting transaxle features separate wet clutches for the odd (1,3,5) and even (2,4,6) gears and pre-selects the next highest and next lowest gear for immediate shifts. It also features Hill Start Assist for easy starts on uphill inclines.
Contributing to overall vehicle balance and low center of gravity, the unique offset input and reaction shaft design of the rear transaxle enables a shorter design profile versus a typical manual transmission, moving the concentration of powertrain weight lower in the vehicle.
Putting the power to the ground is an electronically controlled ATTESA E-TS all-wheel-drive system specifically developed for GT-R. The rear drive-biased system can vary torque split from 0:100 to 50:50 depending on speed, lateral acceleration, steering angles, tire slip, road surface and yaw rate. Of note is a special GT-R-specific yaw-rate feedback control, which measures the differences between the target yaw rate calculated from steering angle and actual yaw rate detected by the yaw-rate sensor and G sensor to adjust torque bias.
For 2010, clutch-engagement control has been optimized through new programming of the vehicle’s Transmission Control Module (TCM). This modification improves vehicle
acceleration with the VDC on/activated while maintaining the GT-R’s smooth shifting, handling, maneuvering and award winning driving performance.
GT-R’s handling duties are managed by a sophisticated 4-wheel independent suspension system mounted to high-precision six-point front and rear subframes. A special Bilstein DampTronic driver adjustable shock absorber system, with a new valve body design for 2010, utilizes multiple vehicle information systems to provide appropriate damping forces and high level of control for a variety of driving situations. The DampTronic system features three driver selectable settings – Normal; Comfort, for maximum suspension compliance; or ‘R,’ for ultimate handling. The same three-stage adjustability is available for the VDC
system and transmission shift operation, which also includes a Snow mode.
Stopping power is provided by Brembo monoblock six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers with large 15-inch Brembo full-floating cross-drilled two-piece rotors and low-steel high-stiffness brake pads that minimize fade and provide intense stopping performance.
The calipers utilize race car-style radial mounting to minimize caliper flex during extreme braking. New, more rigid brake lines are utilized for 2010 for enhanced durability. GT-R-specific lightweight forged 20-inch wheels, with special knurling to assist with securing the tires during hard acceleration or braking, are shod with nitrogen-filled Bridgestone or Dunlop high-performance summer run-flat tires specifically designed for the GT-R, sized 255/40ZRF20 front and 285/35ZRF20 rear.
High-performance Dunlop all-season tires are also available. The base GT-R model is
equipped with a slightly darker high-luster smoke wheel finish (versus the 2009 GT-R), while a new near-black metallic wheel finish is now standard on the GT-R Premium model.
GT-R’s Signature Functional Design – High Performance Aerodynamics and Style
The Nissan GT-R’s dramatic styling remains unchanged for 2010, again following the
‘function over form’ theory. Every styling aspect, from the overall design to the smallest details, is created to maximize the vehicle’s driving experience – as well as suggest GT-R’s ‘supercar’ level of performance. Utilizing advanced aerodynamics, GT-R’s aggressive styling evokes the lines of a well-trained athlete, combining strong character lines with smooth and solid areas.
The GT-R’s hybrid body construction is created with a combination of steel, carbon fiber and die-cast aluminum, providing a unique combination of stiffness, precision and lightness. The body features a low coefficient of drag of 0.27 while achieving high front and rear downforce, providing stability and handling performance in a wide range of driving conditions.
GT-R’s front fenders express power and stability, while the ‘aero-blades’ on the fenders’ leading edges provide optimum airflow around the tires and along the body. The vents in the fenders’ trailing edges assists in providing front downforce and optimizing side air flow.
The aggressive front end, with a large hood bulge and single central air intake, provides a sophisticated style as well as undisturbed airflow for power and cooling. The ‘super wide beam’ headlights feature three additional sub-reflectors (compared to conventional lights) to give a wide illumination spread. The Nissan GT-R’s four-passenger cabin features a sloping ‘aero blade canopy’ roofline and
curved C-pillar ‘sword edge,’ which expresses the distinctive GT-R identity, as well as facilitating air flow around the rear of the vehicle. The signature rear view of the GT-R is provided by its hallmark four-ring taillights, while air flow above and below the vehicle is managed by the functional rear carbon fiber underbody diffuser, rear spoiler and large, integrated quad exhaust tips.
GT-R’s advanced technology is present even in the vehicle’s paint, which utilizes a durable anti-chip paint and ‘double clear coat’ process. One new color, Pearl White, is offered for 2010, while the special seven-coat Super Silver paint color treatment includes a new polished front bumper. The Super Silver paint is baked five times and is hand-polished by craftsman.
An Interior Suitable for Daily Driving or Supercar Duties
Key to the Nissan GT-R’s usability as both a daily driver and a high-performance machine is its interior, which is designed to balance functionality and comfort. It provides comfortable four-passenger seating and trunk capacity of two golf bags or suitcases.
Sculpted performance bucket seats give the driver and passenger a comfortable driving experience, and soft pads are utilized on the dash in front of the passenger and both doors to give an extra level of comfort. The rear transaxle layout of GT-R, with a flat floor and narrow center tunnel, allows GT-R to have an optimal driving position.
A cockpit-style instrument panel surrounds the driver, with all meters and multi-function meter at a uniform height to minimize the driver’s head movement. A large centermounted tachometer, with gear display on its upper right, as well as the easy-to-read graphics of the display, gives the driver instant detailed information, essential for the performance nature of the GT-R.
Functional style is also evident in GT-R’s interior – each meter features a dial plate design that evokes the idea of engaged gears, as well as a three-dimensional metal-like ring, suggesting the multi-dimensional performance of GT-R. A large, metallic-framed center console features an ergonomically designed shift lever and a red ‘engine start’ button.
The centerpiece of the instrument panel is a video game-inspired multi-function display. Eleven pages of information are available on this system, including mechanical and driving information, acceleration, brake pedal pressure, steering angle and a recording function with playback. Additional on-screen information includes a Navigation system, enhanced entertainment system with a Music Box Hard Drive and a Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System.
GT-R Premium models include a specially designed 11-speaker Bose® audio system
features two forward-facing woofers in the rear center armrest area. Rigid aluminum die cast panel-mounting of all speakers allowed Bose® engineers to perfect the acoustical performance of the GT-R sound system.
The Nissan GT-R offers a long list of safety features, including, for enhanced visibility inside and out of the vehicle, high-mounted LED stoplights, bright LED rear combination taillights, ‘super wide beam’ headlights, heated door mirrors and flat-blade windshield wipers.
Standard safety equipment includes a Nissan Advanced Air Bag System for driver and front passenger, front seat-mounted side-impact supplemental air bags for driver and frontpassenger and standard roof-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental air bags for front seat occupant head protection – along with front seat belts with pretensioners and load limiters and tension reducers, and three-point ELR/ALR rear seat belts.
GT-R Dealer Certification
The Nissan GT-R is sold and serviced through nearly 7000 Nissan dealers that have attained ‘GT-R Certification’ status by meeting a number of strict sales, service and facilities commitments – including dedicating a master technician to GT-R service, special training for service managers and technicians, and designating dealer principals, executive managers and general managers as the primary communicators and negotiators in sales transactions.
Models and Options
The 2010 Nissan GT-R is available in two models: GT-R and GT-R Premium. GT-R models
come fully equipped with a 485-horsepower engine, dual clutch rear transmission, Nissan Navigation System, 6-speaker audio system with hard-drive ‘Music Box’ and more. GT-R Premium models add the custom-designed 11-speaker Bose® audio system, premium nearblack finish wheels, Bridgestone RE070A tires and heated front seats.

VICTORY FOR NISSAN GT-R AT SILVERSTONE ROUND OF THE FIA GT
Jamie Campbell-Walter and Warren Hughes took the first ever FIA GT1 race victory for the Nissan GT-R at Silverstone raceway this weekend. In an astounding turn of events the two Sumo Power drivers now find themselves the proud winners of the RAC Tourist Trophy which is historically awarded to the winners of the Silverstone round after taking third place on the track.
The two cars that finished ahead of the Nissan GT-Rs on the track were penalized after the checkered flag fell. The winning Aston Martin of Darren Turner and Tomas Enge was excluded for a technical infringement and the second placed Aston Martin of Fred Makowiecki and Thomas Accary received a time penalty for taking too long to come in for a drive-through penalty.
This result means that Jamie Campbell-Walter and Warren Hughes’ names will be forever listed alongside names such as Stirling Moss, Tazio Nuvolari and Graham Hill on the Tourist Trophy.
Hughes got a great start to the race, moving up to fourth place immediately. Michael Krumm didn’t fare so well as he was pushed wide and had to drop back to ninth to avoid an accident. The Swiss Racing Nissan GT-Rs also lost out at the start with Seiji Ara running in 14th and Karl Wendlinger in 19th. At the end of lap two the Safety Car came out while a stricken and burning Corvette was removed from the side of the track. This held the cars at a steady pace until the start of lap seven when the Safety Car came in and racing resumed.
By lap 10 Hughes was still running strongly in fourth place, Krumm was up to eighth after passing a Corvette and Ara and Wendlinger were also making good progress.
Just before the pit stop window opened, Krumm was locked into a great battle with Andrea Bertolini’s Maserati. The pair was having a good fight but then Oliver Gavin’s Corvette joined in and three-into-one just wouldn’t go. The net result was Krumm and Gavin going off into the gravel at Vale.
‘At the start I was pushed wide onto the grass by Bernoldi so I had to lift to avoid an accident,’ said Krumm. ‘I then couldn’t make up any positions as we were behind the safety car for a long time. Once we were racing again I was having a good fight with Bertolini in the Maserati. I knew that Gavin was behind us but I was concentrating on the Maserati. The next thing I knew I was in the gravel. It’s a shame as the car is really quick now. Hopefully we can show this at Brno.’
Hughes then dived into the pits to hand over to Jamie Campbell-Walter, who was immediately pitched into battle with a Maserati.
‘My stint was pretty exciting,’ said Campbell-Walter. ‘We pitted quite early so I went out into a load of traffic. I had a great fight with a Maserati; we were swopping places so much it was like a rollercoaster ride. Once I got past him for the last time I set off after Kechele in the Lamborghini. We were well matched over the whole lap and I decided that the only place I would be able to pass him was into Copse, as he kept braking early there. I went for it, I don’t think we touched but it was pretty close.’
The Swiss Racing team endured a difficult weekend but salvaged a top ten finish in this afternoon’s championship race. Soon after the pit stops Henri Moser went off at the fastest part of the track, resulting in a lot of damage to the No.3 Swiss Racing Nissan GT-R and a trip to the medical centre for Henri.
‘It’s hard to know what happened really,’ he said. ‘I was passing a Lamborghini at the end of the Hangar straight and suddenly I’m spinning off into the tires. It’s a shame as the car was perfect. My stint had been tricky up to that point as I was in a lot of traffic. I knew once I was past the Lamborghini I would have a clear track in front of me and would be able to go a lot quicker. It was a clean move so it’s disappointing to end up in the barrier.’
‘That was a very hard weekend for Swiss Racing Team,’ said Technical Director Erich Kolb. ‘The race was not too bad for Seiji and Max though. Max joined the race in a lot of traffic, which immediately put him under pressure but he quickly settled into a rhythm and started to put in very good lap times. It was very good to see him take a top ten finish after such a difficult weekend. Henri’s accident caused a lot of damage to the car but luckily Henri is okay. All in all it was a tough weekend but we’re happy we have started to score points and happy for Sumo for their fantastic result.’
The final word has to go to Jamie Campbell-Walter and Warren Hughes, the winners of the RAC Tourist Trophy and the men who took the first FIA GT1 win for the Nissan GT-R.
‘That’s amazing!’ said Hughes. We were happy with third and then we were told it might be second so to get the call to say we won is incredible. I was actually giving the trophy envious glances during the press conference, thinking it would be nice to have my name on there, so this is a great result for us. I’m genuinely delighted to have the win as this is a great result for the championship.’
‘For a British driver it’s a massive honor to win the Tourist Trophy and to be the guys who take the first FIA GT1 win for Nissan is incredible,’ said Campbell-Walter. ‘I have to express my condolences to Darren and Tomas though as they did a great job today and it can’t be nice to have this taken away from you as a driver. When I won the FIA GT race in 2000 here at Silverstone I was presented with the Tourist Trophy but my name was never engraved on it as it wasn’t an official Tourist Trophy meeting. I feel like I’ve won it for a second time now but this time my name will go on there so that’s great. This is a fantastic result for Nissan and for the Sumo Power team.’
