Mercedes Benz CARLSSON

Carlsson has announced that it will shake the covers off its C25, which is the company’s “”first own-developed automobile” at the 2010 Geneva Salon in March. Known for being a Mercedes-Benz specialist, Carlsson actually built it’s own limited run super car using a whole lot of bits and pieces from Mercedes-Benz | super speed cars’ parts bin. Even though the tuner did not say which model the C25 coupe is based on, judging by the teaser sketches and the fact that it is powered by a 6.0-liter bi-turbo V12 engine, the Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG. Horsepower is said to be 753 with 974 lb.-ft. of torque, propelling the car from 0-62 mph in just 3.7 seconds and a top speed 219 mph.
Nevertheless, the drawings suggest that the C25 will have its own unique styling personality while the tuner claims that the same goes for the new interior that receives a generous use of real carbon, tanned buffalo leather and ultra-suede in special colors.

Underneath the sheetmetal, it’s all about tuning Mercedes-Benz’ running gear. Power comes from a tweaked 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine that cranks out 753-horsepower and a mouth dropping 1,320Nm or 974 lb-ft (!) of peak torque that’s available at 3,750 rpm.
With that kind of power, it’s no surprise that Carlsson announces a 0-100km/h (62mph) time of just 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 353 km/h or 219mph. The completely street-legal C25 also gets ESP, ABS, airbag systems, an intelligent lowering C-Tronic SUSPENSION, 20-inch lightweight alloy wheels shod in 265/30 tires at the front and 325/25 at the back as well as 405mm slotted race brake discs at the front and 380mm race brake discs at the rear.

Mercedes-Benz B55

The Mercedes Hot Hatch: Fantasy Meets Reality

This is the B55, a silly one-off project by workers at Mercedes’ Rastatt plant that involved shoving an old “55″ AMG engine into a new B-Class, running a driveshaft through the “sandwich floor” and hooking it up to an old E-Class wagon rear axle. The result: 383 HP, a 0-60 time in the 5 second range, and what Autocar terms “surprisingly mature dynamic properties.” Possibly even more surprisingly, the whole project was done without a lick of help from the nutters at AMG, and required no frame modifications. Best of all is how comfortingly old-school the project is: the days of turning an FWD compact car into a V8 RWD beast are rapidly drawing to a close. Need proof? For the next-generation of A/B-Class, AMG is going in a very different direction, creating an “A25 AMG” which will use a two liter turbocharged four-banger, putting around 300 HP through a dual-clutch transmission and Haldex AWD. This “STI by AMG” will doubtless be infinitely more practical, efficient and useable than the B55′s old-school V8/RWD setup… but more than a few gearheads will be sad to see these kinds of unhinged anachronisms ride off into the sunset.

2010 Mercedes-Benz CLS Class news, pictures, and information
Four-Door Coupe Is a Design Icon
The highly successful Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class has spurred an automotive industry trend toward more eye-catching four-door cars – vehicles that blur the line between coupe and sedan. After making its debut only four years ago as the world’s first four-door coupe, the CLS coupe became an instant style icon.
A handsome, coupe-like car that boasts the comfort and convenience of four doors, the CLS features a high-tension convex curve to its body shape as part of its sleek, sensuous exterior lines. The expressive front end of the CLS is complemented by a dramatic two-lamella grille, and large outside mirrors feature integrated arrow-shaped turn signals. Twin-five-spoke 18-inch wheels emphasize the car’s powerful stance, while a rear bumper with trapezoidal dual exhaust pipes and arrow-shaped LED taillights complete the aggressive look.
Two CLS Models for 2010
For the 2010 model year, the CLS line includes the CLS550, powered by a DOHC four-valve-per-cylinder V8 engine producing 382-horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque, and the high-performance CLS63 AMG, fitted with an AMG-designed 6.3-liter V8 that makes an astonishing 507 hp and 465 lb.-ft. of torque. All 2010 CLS models come with a new steering wheel covered in premium leather and a new monitoring system that shows individual tire pressures.
The stylish contours of the CLS continue throughout the interior, which is complemented by an abundance of leather and wood. A sporty three-spoke steering wheel frames three chronometer-type gauges and two LCD bar graphs in white with silver backgrounds. Four-zone climate control regulates temperature separately for each front and rear seat. The rear passengers even have their own digital control panel for setting a desired temperature and adjusting airflow.
A large COMAND central display in the console incorporates Bluetooth for hands-free cell phone operation, an in-dash six-disc CD /DVD player and voice control of audio and phone. The color display screen uses one set of easy-to-use controls for the audio system (includes AM/FM/ weatherband and CD), standard HD radioi, SIRIUS-XM satellite radio and optional GPS satellite navigation with SIRIUS-XM real-time traffic data..
A standard harman/kardon Logic 7 digital surround sound system provides a luxurious listening experience. The system converts every conventional stereo signal from the radio and CD / DVD player into surround sound with seven output channels, offering audio perfection for passengers, regardless of where they are sitting. The sound system includes a digital signal processor, has a total output of 510 watts and plays through 12 high-end speakers, including two speakers on the rear parcel shelf that produce the surround effect. The system even adjusts volume automatically to compensate for ambient driving noise. An optional Bang and Olufsen audio system is also available for the CLS63 AMG model.
The CLS offers optional heated and active ventilated seats, an option first introduced in the S-Class. Fans inside each of the front seats draw air from the footwell that flows evenly through the perforated leather upholstery so that seats heated by the summer sun can cool down quickly.
AMG Racing Success Spawns High-Power Production Engine
The Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG is powered by one of the most powerful naturally aspirated production V8s ever, also the first engine developed entirely by AMG. Built almost completely from a high-strength silicon-aluminum alloy, the 6.3-liter features four valves per cylinder, double overhead camshafts with variable valve timing, bucket tappets (rather than rocker arms), an 11.3-to 1 compression ratio and a variable intake manifold. AMG engineers designed the 6.3-liter engine block with an especially rigid bedplate with cast-in steel reinforcements at the main bearing, and a sturdy closed-deck layout beside the cylinder heads.
The cylinder bores feature a twin-wire-arc-sprayed (TWAS) coating, an innovative process that results in impressively low friction and running surfaces that are twice as hard as conventional cast-iron cylinders. Sharing no parts with Mercedes-Benz V8 engines, the 6.3 AMG engine revs freely to over 7,000 rpm, yet already produces nearly 90 percent of its peak torque at only 2,000 rpm.
Power is transmitted to the rear wheels of the CLS63 AMG via a seven-speed AMG Speedshift automatic transmission that can be shifted manually by either a conventional lever or Formula-1 style shift paddles on the AMG sport steering wheel. To give performance-minded drivers total control of shifting, its manual mode doesn’t make any automatic upshifts – even at max engine speed – or automatic downshifts, even under full load. AMG Speedshift provides 35% faster gear shifts and torque converter lockup from 1st gear.
The Super Model Gets a Hot Chassis
AMG engineers developed a sports suspension for the CLS63 AMG that’s based on the Mercedes-Benz Airmatic air suspension. The AMG-tuned Airmatic air suspension includes automatic level control that maintains ride height even when the car is loaded, and the driver can choose from three sport-comfort settings as well. For flatter cornering, the springs, shocks and stabilizer bars are stiffer than on the CLS550.
Speed-sensitive power steering ensures low steering effort for low speed maneuvers such as parallel parking but automatically reduces the steering assist above 60 mph to provide good road feel. To help handle all the power, the ESP system can apply the brakes on just one wheel to transfer torque to the wheels with better traction, achieving much the same effect as a limited-slip differential. Stronger driveshafts, heavy-duty rear suspension parts and a stronger differential housing with cooling fins complete the package.
To make sure the CLS63 AMG stops as fast as it goes, giant vented and perforated disc brakes all around feature 14-inch discs and six-piston calipers up front and 13-inch discs with four-piston calipers at the rear. Staggered 19-inch wheels with 8 ½ and 9 ½ inch widths carry 255 / 35 tires in front and 285 / 30 at the rear.
A 186-MPH Option
The CLS63 AMG can be ordered with an optional Performance Package that allows a 186-mph top speed instead of the usual 155-mph speed limiter. Other features in the package include an AMG track-calibrated Airmatic sport suspension with stiffer spring rates, 19-inch forged alloy wheels, larger front discs (15.4-inch diameter) with two-piece construction, a limited-slip rear differential and a leather / Alcantara-wrapped AMG sport steering wheel.
About AMG
AMG has been a subsidiary of Daimler AG since 1999 and is located near Stuttgart in Affalterbach, Germany. AMG develops each of its models, from the engine and driveline to suspension, brakes, chassis and aerodynamics. The technicians at Mercedes-AMG assemble every engine by hand, ensuring precision tolerances. Individual workmanship and skill are paramount – each technician is responsible for a complete engine, an approach that has been labelled, ‘One Man, One Engine.’ When the job is done, a plaque signed by the technician is affixed to the engine as a symbol of the personal pride and care taken with each engine. Each engine is produced and tested at AMG’s headquarters in Affalterbach, and AMG models are assembled at the main Mercedes-Benz vehicle assembly plants.

This year Mercedes-Benz is celebrating the one hundredth birthday of the Mercedes three-pointed star and the Benz emblem with an exclusive edition of the flagship CL-Class Coupe. This anniversary model shines with an extensive package of appointments and exquisite details. These include an elegant paint finish from the designo collection, the AMG Sports package, premium leather, black piano lacquer trim and beautifully executed emblems of the original trademarks inset into the center console. These are accurate reproductions of the emblems that Daimler Motorengesellschaft and Benz & Cie registered as trademarks one hundred years ago, forming the basis for the Mercedes star. With this special edition, Mercedes-Benz is adding even more individuality to the luxury coupĂ©, and showing that even the best can still be perfected. Available with standard 4MATIC all-wheel-drive, a limited number of the special ’100 Years of Mercedes-Benz Edition’ model goes on sale in the U.S. during the summer of 2009.
The histories of the Mercedes star and the Benz laurel wreath began independently of each other: on June 24, 1909 Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft officially registered the design of the Mercedes star, and on August 6th Benz & Cie. registered the letters ‘Benz’, enclosed by a laurel wreath, as a trademark with the Imperial Patent Office. The fact that both vehicle makers registered their new trademarks in the summer of 1909 appears in retrospect as a parallel to the year 1886. That was the year when, again independently of each other, Gottlieb Daimler and Carl Benz invented the automobile. Twenty-three years later the two companies, competitors at the time, created new brand symbols which promptly appeared as a badge and device on their respective vehicles.
On February 18, 1925 – more than a year prior to the merger of Daimler and Benz on June 28, 1926 – the two brands registered the new joint logo: Daimler’s Mercedes star set within Benz’s laurel wreath.
The CL-Class has been acknowledged as a masterpiece of automobile engineering since its inception. It combines the comfort of a prestigious luxury sedan with the athleticism of a sports car, with a captivating design and trailblazing high-tech features. With its exclusive appointments, the special ’100 Years of Mercedes-Benz Edition’ underlines the special status of the CL-Class.
The crowning highlights of the anniversary edition are the historic trademarks dating from 1909 in gilded plate brass, which are inset into the center console. Together with the designo metallic graphite paint finish these accentuate the model’s exquisitely luxurious character. Sporty visual touches are provided by the AMG Sports package with muscular front and rear aprons, side skirts and sports pedals of brushed stainless steel with black rubber studs, plus painted brake callipers with Mercedes-Benz lettering. The anniversary edition also includes high-sheen 20-inch 5 twin-spoke AMG light-alloy wheels painted in titanium grey, which are only available for this special CL-Class model. They are shod with 255/35 R 20 tires.
The interior is fitted with exquisite, partly hand-stitched Sahara Beige premium leather. The high-quality wood/leather steering wheel harmonizes with the interior trim in shining black piano lacquer.
The 382-hp special CL550 4MATIC ’100 Years of Mercedes-Benz Edition’ is equipped with all the new features of model year 2010. These include new exterior mirrors with larger lenses, an eye-catching indicator design in LED technology and improved aerodynamics and an upgraded telematics generation with a further development of COMAND system. An SD card slot in the center console, a USB interface in the glove compartment and a universal Media Interface for connecting mobile audio devices are also included. Finally, all components of the Premium 2 package are included as standard equipment.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class MercedesSport

MercedesSport Individualization Program
* Intelligently designed front aprons, spoiler edges and side skirts ensure an elegant and sporty appearance. Unlike conventional products on the market, the sophisticated ‘add-on principle’ makes it unnecessary to replace the original components.
* Optional rear and roof spoilers, a diffuser-look rear apron insert and fog lamp louvres round off this finely coordinated package of visual and aerodynamic features for the exterior.
* Striking eighteen-inch light-alloy wheels in a trendy bicolor version. These have sections painted in high-sheen black and bear the MercedesSport logo. They are enhanced and protected by a clear varnish coat.
* A sporty suspension, with noticeably stiffer damping, transverse stabilisers and shorter springs to lower the suspension by up to 15 millimetres. This sports suspension kit makes for more direct and sporty handling without compromising the high level of comfort.
* A sports braking system with perforated brake discs and grey brake calipers bearing the Mercedes-Benz logo, for outstanding deceleration and a sporty look.
* A grippy four-spoke sports steering wheel with perforated leather and a silver contrasting seam, optionally available with shift paddles and heating. For a sporty touch in the cockpit, right at your fingertips.
* A stainless steel pedal cluster, stainless steel door entry panels illuminated in white and bearing the MercedesSport logo and black velours floor mats with an edge border and silver contrasting seam, likewise bearing the MercedesSport logo, are further eyecatching features in the interior. It is with these retrofitted features that Mercedes-Benz meets the wishes of customers who wish to enhance and individualise their cars even further.
MercedesSport components distinguish themselves from other products available in the individualisation market in three respects:
* They are designed in accordance with the high quality criteria of the Mercedes-Benz brand, which in part impose far stricter standards than existing technical norms. Their development is based on the extensive findings and experience gained from the development work on the base vehicle, as well as on the original vehicle’s computer data. This means that the components fit with extraordinary precision, for example. All components have undergone computer simulations and sophisticated practical tests for reliability, durability and function – also under extreme operating conditions. The aerodynamic components have also been tested in the wind tunnel, and under the dynamic driving conditions of high-speed tracks. MercedesSport components are also highly dimensionally stable, and extremely resistant to impacts. And as MercedesSport components meet the very highest standards, they are covered by the original Mercedes-Benz warranty.
* Thanks to the intelligent design according to the ‘add-on principle’, no existing parts need to be removed or replaced. The original bumpers, side skirts are retained, and merely complemented with MercedesSport components. This means a considerably lower use of resources accompanied by lower costs, for the same or better results in both form and function.
* The same designers who created the original vehicle are responsible for MercedesSport styling. These mounted components accentuate the character of the vehicle, and seamlessly blend into the sophisticated design idiom of the Mercedes-Benz brand. Light-catching contours and taut surfaces create a sporty touch and underline the car’s self-confident presence. In its sporty, individualised form, the car is still clearly recognisable as a Mercedes.
MercedesSport will initially be available for the entire E-Class family (Saloon, Estate, Coupé, Cabriolet), with other model series to follow. MercedesSport is available from authorised Mercedes-Benz sales and service outlets, and can also be professionally installed there.
Mercedes-Benz Accessories GmbH is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Daimler AG, and is responsible for the development, selection and marketing of genuine accessories and Collection items for the Mercedes-Benz, Maybach, AMG and smart brands. The product range includes accessories designed for enhancement and individualisation, telematics, wheel/tyre combinations, care and protection products, carrier systems, comfort and safety features, mounted components and Collection items in the merchandising and licensing sectors. The company employs more than 200 personnel and is based in Stuttgart-Vaihingen.

BRABUS G V12 S

BRABUS G V12 S Biturbo WIDESTAR: The World’s Most Powerful Off-Roader
The world’s most powerful off-roader now comes in a striking wide version: At the Geneva Motor Show 2010 the BRABUS G V12 S Biturbo WIDESTAR celebrates its world debut. This exclusive special model is powered by a twin-turbo twelve-cylinder engine with 700 hp (690 bhp) / 515 kW.
BRABUS (Brabus-Allee, D-46240 Bottrop, phone + 49 / (0) 2041 / 777-0, fax + 49 / (0) 2041 / 777 111, Internet www.brabus.com) builds the five-door by hand based on the latest Mercedes G-Class. Like all special models from BRABUS, accepted by the German Federal Vehicle Registration Agency (Kraftfahrtbundesamt) as an automobile manufacturer, the BRABUS G V12 S Biturbo WIDESTAR is available with an extensive list of luxury appointments. The ultra-powerful 4×4 starts at 394,900 Euros MSRP.
As the model designation indicates, the engine bay of the G-Class vehicle houses the BRABUS SV12 S engine originally developed for the BRABUS ROCKET with a top speed of 365.7 km/h (227.2 mph). The high-performance engine is based on the V12 Biturbo engine from the latest Mercedes S 600 model. In the state-of-the-art BRABUS engine shop displacement of the three-valve engine is increased from 5.5 to 6.3 liters (336 to 384 cu. in.) with the help of a special crankshaft with longer stroke, larger cylinder bore and larger pistons. In addition, the cylinder heads are re-machined and fitted with special camshafts.
The engine peripherals were upgraded with larger turbochargers, an optimized intercooling system and a stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with free-flow metal catalysts. The exhaust was custom-developed for the G-Class and features dual chrome-plated tailpipes that exit in front of the rear wheels on either side. New precision mapping for the engine electronics coordinate the perfect interaction of all new components. The result is an exemplary smooth-running engine with maximum power yield that meets the strict limits set by the EURO IV emission norm.
In the G-Class the BRABUS S V12 S displacement engine produces 700 hp (690 bhp) / 515 kW at 5,100 rpm. The turbocharged twelve-cylinder engine delivers its peak torque of 1,320 Nm (973 lb-ft) at 2,100 rpm. In the car peak torque is electronically limited to 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft).
The BRABUS G V12 S Biturbo offers acceleration performance almost unimaginable for a true off-roader: Combined with a special five-speed automatic transmission and permanent four-wheel drive the exclusive SUV catapults itself from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.3 seconds. Top speed is limited electronically to 240 km/h (150 mph). Without the self-imposed limit the high-tech G-Class model could reach 260 km/h (163 mph).
With the new BRABUS WIDESTAR version the designers have managed to lend the classic G-Class body an even more striking and dynamic profile. Powerfully shaped fender flares add 12 centimeters (4.7 inches) to the width of the body and optimize venting of front and rear wheel houses thanks to integrated air vents. Strikingly styled BRABUS door moldings give the 4×4 a highly distinctive appearance even when viewed from the side. Sturdy stainless-steel running boards facilitate entering and exiting the vehicle during the day and at night. LED lights integrated into the front and rear WIDESTAR fenders illuminate the running boards upon activation via the door handles or the keyless remote.
The wider fenders create space for extremely large wheels and tires. BRABUS offers WIDESTAR owners a wide selection of custom-tailored tire/wheel combinations with diameters ranging from 20 to 23 inches. The WIDESTAR version is available for all five-door G-Class models. The most exclusive option for the WIDESTAR features three-piece 11Jx23 Monoblock E PLATINUM EDITION alloy wheels on front and rear axle. The corresponding high-performance tires in size 305/35 R 23 are supplied by Pirelli and YOKOHAMA.
The BRABUS WIDESTAR version offers a wider track and an even more impressive appearance. The front apron continues the shape of the flares on both sides and its large air ducts provide the front brakes with an ample supply of cooling air. At the same time the apron’s sophisticated shape reduces lift on the front axle. Six stylishly integrated auxiliary headlights optimize active safety in low-light conditions. BRABUS LED daytime running lights below the main headlights call attention to the ‘Power G’ during the day.
The rear apron continues the design language of the front apron with its fading flares and stylized underride guard. In addition to the centrally mounted reflector the WIDESTAR rear bumper also houses a rear fog lamp and backup light on either side. The designer suit is rounded out with the BRABUS roof spoiler with integrated LED brake light.
For optimal handling BRABUS equips the special model G V12 S Biturbo with a comfortable custom suspension. To keep the enormous performance safely in check at all times the standard equipment also includes the BRABUS high-performance brake system with 12-piston aluminum fixed calipers and 380-mm (15.0 in.) vented discs on the front axle.
The custom interior of the BRABUS G V12 S Biturbo WIDESTAR is highly exclusive as well: It includes an ergonomically shaped sport steering wheel, a speedometer with 280-km/h scale (175-mph), stainless-steel scuff plates with illuminated BRABUS logo and a handcrafted BRABUS fully leather interior made from especially soft and breathable BRABUS Mastik leather.
Upon customer request BRABUS can transform the 4×4 into a fully functional and off-road capable office on wheels by installing a computer system including a wireless LAN network and UMTS internet connection. This concept can be upgraded to a high-tech multimedia system with a DVD changer, DVBT TV tuner and a game console.
Three screens display the images from the various sources: An electrically deployed 15.2-inch TFT display is integrated into the headliner. In addition, BRABUS has developed special consoles for the back of the front seats. They each feature a seven-inch LCD screen with integrated DVD player and an electrically deployed table. The sound is carried by infrared headphones.
